A homeless man has been arrested after police say he repeatedly punched a man in the face during a confrontation over a vacant lot in south-east London.
The 52-year-old man was arrested after he was filmed kicking and punching the man in broad daylight at a vacant property in Hatton Garden, north London, on Wednesday.
He had been arrested in March after a man was attacked by a man on a bus.
“He’s an extremely aggressive individual, it’s just that he’s so scared,” said Detective Inspector Richard Higgs.
He added that the man was found guilty of assault and possessing offensive weapons.
The incident happened on Wednesday night, just hours after the man, who has not been named, was reported missing.
Homelessness has risen sharply in London in recent years.
In January, a man with an IQ of 170 who had been on a waiting list for housing was found dead after his body was found in a shallow grave.
The coroner, however, ruled that the death was a homicide.
